Soko Gin is a new brand of premium craft gin that is inspired by the essence of Africa. The name Soko is derived from the totem "monkey" in Shona. A totem is a natural object or animal that is believed by a particular society to have spiritual significance and that is adopted by it as an emblem.

The name Soko, reflects the brand's vision of bringing the diversity and richness of Africa and its traditions to the global gin market.

The brand was founded by an entrepreneur who wanted to create a legacy for her children by honoring their heritage whilst paying homage to the African continent. After sampling gins during visits to several countries in Asia, Europe and the Americas, an idea to create a gin that would showcase the best of Africa was born.
